Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Day 1 New Team Training participants interacting with each other at SST6. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a general education initiative, supporting all children and youth. The OSEP Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports defines PBIS as: a decision making framework that guides selection, integration and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students. The broad purpose of PBIS is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of schools and other agencies. PBIS improves social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities and students from underrepresented groups. The underlying theme is teaching behavioral expectations in the same manner as any core curriculum subject.

PBIS Train-the-Trainer Opportunity for ESC's, Districts, and Community Schools

The Office for Exceptional and the Ohio PBIS Network are making available to districts, community schools and ESCs an opportunity to receive PBIS Tier I, Train-the-Trainer instruction.  This train-the-trainer opportunity is intended for an individual or small team intending to provide PBIS training for their district or their region.  Participants should have already participated in PBIS training from their State Support Team (SST) and implemented Tier I PBIS in at least one building. The train-the-trainer opportunity will be provided this spring by Tom Stacho. Please click here for additional details.
